FLORENCE, ITALY (Day 2)

First stop: the Duomo, Florence's Cathedral

Next stop: the Uffizi Gallery, one of the world's greatest art museums. Much better pictures (than mine) can be found on the Uffizi site, but I wanted to post just a few pictures to remind me of some of my favorites:

Final stop: the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo's David.

I didn't realize that David is 17 feet tall! We definitely looked up to him.

It was definitely a thrill to see this and other magnificent art in the beautiful city of Florence.

On our last morning in Florence, we had just a little time to tour the Medici Chapel and to enjoy Michelangelo's creations there.

AREZZO, ITALY

We took the train to a small town called Arezzo. The countryside was (again) beautiful.

We enjoyed walking around the city, and we found many wonderful churches.

FLORENCE, ITALY (Day 1)

Next was Florence! This was definitely on my list of cities in Italy that I wanted to see.

We went to a high spot where we had a great view of the city.

And the original wall of the city...

We saw the River Arno.
And more great views.

We stopped at a beautiful garden area.

We went to the Basilica Santa Croce

And we saw where Michelangelo was buried.
